Nehemiah 2:11-20
As Nehemiah made his way to Jerusalem and began to work on the wall, his approach was different from how others may approached. He didn’t announce with fanfare or call attention to himself. How come? Because it was his deal - Jul 3, 2016Healthy Teaching

Romans 6:1-23
The book of James refers to single-minded faith as a perquisite to not being pushed around by the winds (see James 1:5-8). As a Christian, this is always the challenge. The winds of culture are always going to blow and we are always going to be affected by those winds. We are in the middle of several cultural storms right now. Christians are to learn the skill of tacking across the wind and utilizing the power that is intrinsic in followers of Christ. - Jun 12, 2016You Will Not Die

May 29, 2016Q&A – Is It A Sin to Drink Alcohol?By: Ben CookSeries: A Work in Progress
Question and Answer
Tonight we will tackle two questions at once, asked by different people: Christians who drink say that it is ok because Jesus did, and he even created wine (John 2:1-11). So is drinking ok? What was the alcohol content? I’ve done some study on this and it is really confusing. Plus, commentaries seem to differ from each other. I am not really sure this is a qualifying question for the sermon series. Here it goes. Why is drinking a beer or alcoholic drink considered a sin among church members. I can't find a biblical reason why this is a line of thought in the church. - May 29, 2016Binding Isaac

Genesis 22:7-13
Abraham offered up his son Isaac and I can hardly wrap my head around it. Now that I have a son, an only son, whom I love. There's a lot more to this story than we catch because we often recoil when we read instead of drinking deeply from the text. As we dig into this story, it will take us to the foot of the cross. May your Memorial Day weekend dwell on the most profound sacrifice ever offered. - May 22, 2016Q&A – Consider Job

1 Corinthians 10:13
Question and Answer: As an effort to be attentive to our time on Sunday evening, and also do justice to this *very* important question, we will only tackle this one question this evening: 1 Corinthians 10:13 is often used to illustrate that ‘God will not give us more than we can handle.’ But it doesn’t say that. It only addressed our temptation to sin. Will God allow us to encounter circumstances greater than we can bear? (Consider Job). If that’s true, what are we supposed to do, just have hope when we’re crushed in spirit? - May 22, 2016Walking with Warriors

Psalm 19
God is the master communicator. He has communicated His will and His love using the creation, the written Word and even His own Son. What makes his communication quality is the belief system that drives it. When we struggle with communication, it is usually not because of technique, but because of what we believe. - May 10, 2016Believe or Not to Believe
- May 8, 2016Q&A – Jeremiah & Joshua
May 8, 2016Q&A – Jeremiah & JoshuaBy: Ben CookSeries: A Work in Progress
Question and Answer
The two questions we will take time to explore tonight are:1. Is Jeremiah 29:11 only contextual or can it be singled out to be used as our culture uses it - such as for graduation celebrations and as an encouragement verse? Also, I’ve noticed a difference in some versions. One used the word “prosper” and another “plans for welfare”. Very different ideas.2. A question about Joshua. He led the people all through these different cities and burned and killed everyone and everything in them basically. And I want to ask why is it okay to kill off all of those people and by God's instruction even?" These are great questions - and very timely, since our kids just finished studying Joshua for LTC! - May 8, 2016Carry the Load

Galatians 6:1-10
Relationships are God’s idea. By nature, they involve more than one person. God’s intent is that we can encourage, love and support one another in this journey we call life. When one walks it alone, it is difficult to bear all the challenge. When two or three walk together, they support one another and share the burden. What happens when we are in a relationship where only one person is carrying the load?
