Enjoy the Futility of Life
By: Ben Cook
Series: A Work in Progress
Ecclesiastes 1:1-9
If there were two books in the Bible that preachers would rather do without, it's Song of Solomon, and Ecclesiastes. Song of Solomon gets read privately, just not discussed. Ecclesiastes confuses and frustrates people, so they typically ignore it. This morning we will explore the message of Ecclesiastes. Be sure to do your light therapy and take vitamin D.

Joshua 4:20-24
Most of us have traditions in our lives. It's just the ebb and flow of how we live. But those traditions say a lot about who we are - and, surprisingly, they become guardrails for who your kids become! Family legacies often rest in family traditions. What is yours? (this is a tough question for newlyweds!) Are you doing your family traditions on purpose? Let's explore this some more this morning. - Sep 4, 2016Q & A: Soul/Spirit
Sep 4, 2016Q & A: Soul/SpiritBy: Ben CookSeries: A Work in ProgressTwo weeks ago, after discussing the resurrection, several approached me to ask the same follow-up question: "What happens to my soul/spirit between the time it leaves my body at death and the second coming of Christ? Thanks." I do have a few other questions, but tackling this one on the heels of last time is most appropriate.

Matthew 12:22-28
We have a world of people that seems to be at war with each other. There is division everywhere you go. Don’t think this isn’t a scheme of the enemy. Keeping us fighting each other will keep us from fighting him. What is worse, others who need to hear the gospel, may never get the chance. - Aug 28, 2016Guest Speaker: Don Huddleson

Aug 14, 2016Q & ABy: Ben CookSeries: A Work in ProgressWe will take the next several Sunday evenings to revisit our Question and Answer series from May. I have several questions still in queue from last time, and have received a lot of positive feedback about this format for Sunday evening. The question we will look at tonight is: "Why isn’t it more common for Greek definitions of words in the NT to be taught in Bible classes so that when passages like 1 Cor.13:1-7 get read at weddings we (as Christians) understand that the “love” being talked about is not the romantic love between a husband and wife? This distinction would also help Jesus’ conversation with Peter in John 21:15-17 to make more sense to us."

We have so much and there is so much potential within us. Sometimes people accept mediocrity because their view of their potential in Christ is blocked by what everyone else has or is doing. When we learn to see ourselves through God’s eyes, we begin the journey toward contentment.

Acts 4:5-13
The first century Christians held themselves in a way that was hard to miss. They were confident and straightforward. Luke simply uses the term boldness to describe them. The opposite of boldness is fearfulness, which is the natural virtue that surfaces if boldness is not present. - Jul 31, 2016Principles of Perseverance

1 Peter 3:8-18
Peter states that perseverance is one of the virtues in which a Christian should continually grow (2 Peter 1:6, 8). Throughout the two letters he writes, he gives several principles of perseverance. Today we will notice those found in this section of 1st Peter. - Jul 24, 2016Gifts you Can Give Your Children
